10 hurt in clash

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a disputed land at Aliarpur in Ullapara upazila of the district on Wednesday. Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Ullapara Police Station Dewan Koushik Ahmed said two groups of villagers -- one led by Khalilur Rahman and another by Aktar Ali -- had been at loggerheads over the land. On Wednesday noon, supporters of Aktar group went to the disputed land to sow jute seeds. Being informed, supporters of the Khalilur group rushed there and swooped on their rivals, triggering a clash that left at least 10 people from both sides injured. They were rushed to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
