1 killed in Satkhira road crash

A motorcycle rider was killed and two other persons were injured in a road accident on Kaliganj-Shyamnagar road in Satkhira this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed, 27, of Parulgachha village in Kaliganj upazila, reports our Satkhira correspondent.

Nazmul Huda, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, confirmed the incident to The Daily Star.

The incident took place at Chandipur area of Shyamnagar upazila in the district at around 8:30am, witnesses said.

Sayeed was riding his motorbike with two other passengers when a van carrying water coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle, leaving the three injured.

They were rushed to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Sayeed dead, said Shakir Hossain, an official of the health complex.

One of the injured was identified as Abul Kalam, 30, of Shyamnagar upazila while the identity of the others could not be known immediately.
