UK-returnees will have to stay in institutional quarantine for 14 days: cabinet secretary
Incoming passengers from the UK will have to stay in institutional quarantine for 14 days.
The decision was taken at the virtual meeting of the cabinet today, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam said.
From when this rule will be activated will be announced after a meeting with the concerned officials tonight.
"Flights will be on. But, everyone who will come from UK has to stay in 14-day institutional quarantine," the cabinet secretary said while briefing journalists at the secretariat following the meeting.
The government will arrange quarantine [facility] in Ashkona Hajj camp and Uttara Diabari while such an arrangement will be made locally in Sylhet.
"However, passengers will have to bear the expenses. Besides, quarantine in good quality hotels will also be arranged upon passengers' demand. The civil aviation authority will arrange this," he said
