Covid-19: daily death toll 26 for 2nd consecutive day
Twenty-six people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8 am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of deaths has now reached 8,597, and the death rate stands at 1.53 percent.
At least 1,719 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 5,60,887, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 8.29 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 13.03 percent.
A total of 20,748 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 am today).
At least 1,352 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,14,479, and the recovery rate at 91.73 percent.
Among the deceased, 17 were men and nine women while three were between 41-50 years old, eight were within 51-60 years, and the rest 15 were above 60 years old, added the release.
Covid-19 deaths and transmission were gradually declining from January this year but over the last week, both deaths and transmission were rising.
Twenty-six people died with Covid-19 on March 15; 18 people on March 14; 13 people died on March 13; 13 on March 12; six on March 11; seven on March 10; 13 on March 9; 14 on March 8, and 11 on March 7.
Meanwhile, 1,773 were infected with Covid-19 on March 15; 1,159 people on March 14; 1,014 people on March 13; 1,066 on March 12; 1,051 on March 11; 1,051 on March 11; 1,018 on March 10; 912 on March 9; 845 on March 8 and 606 on March 7.
