Number of daily Covid-19 deaths rising
Eighteen people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8 am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of deaths has now reached 8,545 and the death rate stands at 1.53 percent.
At least 1,159 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 5,57,395, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 7.15 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.07 percent.
A total of 16,206 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8 am today).
At least 1,385 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,11,695 and the recovery rate at 91.80 percent.
Among the deceased, 12 were men and six women while one was between 11-20 years old, five were within 51-60 years and the rest 12 were above 60 years old, added the release.
Covid-19 deaths and transmission were gradually declining from January this year but over last one week both deaths and transmission were rising.
Thirteen people died with Covid-19 on March 13, 13 on March 12, 6 on March 11, 7 on March 10, 13 on March 9, 14 on March 8 and 11 on March 7.
Meanwhile, 1014 people were infected with Covid-19 on March 13, 1066 on March 12, 1051 on March 11, 1051 on March 11, 1018 on March 10, 912 on March 9, 845 on March 8 and 606 on March 7.
