Curbing Covid-19: Bangladesh Police launches awareness campaign
With Covid-19 infections rising in the country again, Bangladesh Police launched an awareness campaign to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Law enforcers are distributing masks and urged people to follow health rules to curb Covid-19 in Dhaka and different parts of the country.
Our Rajshahi staff correspondent reports that police started the awareness campaign across Rajshahi division today.
RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique took part in a human chain at Shaheb Bazar, also joined by local people and businessmen.
Police distributed face masks to people, asking them to ensure social distancing, be careful about Covid-19 infections and maintain health safety protocols.
The police commissioner, with contingents of police, walked into markets and city streets at Shaheb Bazar, Gourhanga, and Seroil and distributed masks and hand sanitizers among the poor people.
Rajshahi Deputy Inspector General Abdul Baten campaigned at Baneswar Bazar in Puthia upazila and visited other districts of the division to raise awareness against Covid-19.
According to officials, police began the campaign as part of a directive from the headquarters.
Meanwhile, Patuakhali District Police distributed masks and leaflets among the people on Patuakhali-Kuakata highway around 11:00am, our local correspondent reports.
Masks and leaflets were distributed among the people in Sadar Road area in front of the Barguna Press Club led by the Barguna Police Super Md Jahangir Mollik.
On March 18, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed announced the launch pf the nationwide programme.
