Youth dead after bus hits him at Dhaka’s Elephant Road

A youth was killed after a bus hit him in Dhaka's New Elephant Road area early this morning.

The dead was identified as Delwar Hossain, 30, a restaurant employee who hailed from Chandpur Sadar upazila.

A speeding bus hit him while he was crossing the road near Bata Signal point, on his way to his work, around 6:00am. Critically injured, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Rashedul Islam, a sub-inspector of New Market Police Station.

Police are trying to identify the bus that fled after the accident, he said.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
