Two murdered in Gazipur
Two people were murdered in separate incidents in Gazipur in the last two days.
In Tongi, Jahid Hasan Roni, 20, son of late Abdul Jalil of Brahmanbaria, was stabbed to death following a dispute over a loan, said police.
Roni had an altercation with one Anwar Khandarkar on Tuesday evening over Tk 500, which he borrowed from Anwar, said police. Later, Anwar and another youth Raju attacked Roni. Hearing his scream, locals rushed to the spot and handed over them to police after a good beating. Roni was declared dead at Tongi Government Hospital.
In Kasimpur, Abdul Gafur, 65, a farmer, was killed in a clash between his supporters and rivals over harvesting yesterday, said police.
His three sons were also injured in the clash as the other group was equipped with sticks. The injured were rushed to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified man, aged around 40, was recovered from a field in Chandra of Kaliakoir in Gazipur yesterday.
An injury mark was found in the head, said Abdul Motaleb, officer-in-charge of Kaliakoir Police Station, adding that an iron rod was found beside the body.
