BNP yesterday threatened to announce tougher programme if the government increases gas and electricity prices, said Rizvi Ahmed, BNP senior joint secretary general, addressing a press conference at BNP's Naya Paltan central office.

"This government has taken a decision to increase prices of gas and electricity once again after destroying all sectors through looting and corruption. I, on behalf of the party, am urging the government to retreat from its anti-people decision immediately," he said.

In the written statement, Rizvi said although price of electricity production has been decreased across the world, the government has decided to increase prices in a bid to widen its scope of corruption.
