Teenage girl in capital 'killed by husband'
A teenage girl was allegedly killed by her husband in the capital's Jurain area yesterday following a family feud.
Neighbours rescued seriously injured Taslima, 16, around 10:00am and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where she died around 2:00pm.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kadamtoli Police Station Kazi Wazed Ali said Abu Taher, a neighbour, told Taslima's husband Badal Miah -- a peon at an office in Banani -- that he was going out and requested him to close the main gate of the one-storey building where they lived.
After returning Taher found the main gate open. Later, he pushed the door of Badal's room which was slightly ajar, and heard the sound of Taslima crying for water with blood oozing out of her head, said the OC.
Taher informed the matter to Taslima's father and rushed the girl to hospital with the help of locals.
Taslima's father Abul Hossain told this correspondent that Taslima was married off in January this year. She was a class-nine student then.
Badal rented the house this month and the couple had been living there for the last three or four days, Abul said.
He heard from the neighbours that they had a quarrel in the morning and Badal bludgeoned her with a stick, Abul said, claiming that Badal killed her daughter.
Taslima's body was sent to DMCH for an autopsy.
