Steamer damaged being hit by tanker off Barisal River Port

The paddle of a steamer carrying around 400 passengers was damaged after it and a moving sand-laden tanker collided near Barisal River Port on Tuesday night.

The passengers were evacuated from the stranded vessel.

PS Mahsud of BIWTC, which plies the Dhaka-Morelganj route, was under an emergency repair, said officials.

The steamer, however, was not fixed till last evening, they said. The station supervisor of BIWTC, said PS Mahsud was heading towards Dhaka via Chandpur.
