Six die in road crashes
Six people were killed and four others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday and on Tuesday.
In Thakurgaon, two people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Thakurgaon-Dhaka highway in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila yesterday.
One of the deceased was Aiyub Ali, 35, of Panchagarh Sadar upazila.
The identity of the other deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital.
In Dinajpur, a bus hit a private car in Parbatipur upazila yesterday, leaving the latter's driver Anwar Hossain, 23, of Satpara under Rangpur City Corporation, dead on the spot.
Mahmudul Alam, officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station, said the accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
In Comilla, a covered van knocked down a human hauler on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Safua in Chauddagram upazila yesterday, leaving garment worker Jahanara Akter,24, dead on the spot and ten others injured, reports UNB.
Agitated workers of "Amir Shirt" blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway for one hour in reaction to the incident.
In Pabna, a microbus hit freedom fighter Toriqul Islam Topu at Jaynagar Board office intersection in Ishwardi on Tuesday while he was crossing the road, leaving him injured, reports UNB.
He later died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, in another incident on the same day, a bicyclist was killed when a private car hit him in Majidpur area on Pabna-Ishwardi road in Sadar upazila.
Deceased Shaidul Islam, 22, was a resident of Nowapara village in Natore's Bagatipara upazila.
