SC unhappy with non- implementation of salary hike

The Supreme Court yesterday expressed dissatisfaction at the government, as it has not implemented the recommendation of the judicial pay commission for rising salaries of the lower court judges.

The government has already issued a gazette notification increasing the salaries of government officials, but the government did not take any step to implement the judicial pay commission's recommendations, the SC said while hearing a public interest case over rise in the house rent for judges.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha fixed February 5 for further hearing.

The bench told Attorney General Mahbubey Alam that there is a repercussion among the judicial officials over non-implementation of the recommendation made in April last year.

The attorney general said the government would implement it.
