Road crashes kill two

Two persons were killed while one other was injured in road accidents in the country yesterday and Tuesday night.

Our Savar correspondent reports, Md Mostafa Kamal, 26, of Kishoreganj, helper of a human hauler locally known as Maxi, died as he lost balance and fell from the rear of the vehicle while another such four-wheeler ran him over on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Narashinhapur in Ashulia, outside the capital, yesterday.

Some local musclemen and political leaders are backing the operation of these illegal rickety vehicles which are causing frequent accidents, said locals.

Our Nilphamari correspondent adds, a person was killed and another injured as two motorbikes collided head-on before the Kishoreganj Upazila Dak Bunglow on Tuesday night.

The deceased was Dipok Thakur, 30, of the upazila. Injured Mamun Hossen is undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
