Road crashes kill three

Three persons were killed and three others injured in road accidents in Noakhali and Magura yesterday, according to our correspondents.

In Noakhali, two persons were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Banglabazar in Begumganj upazila.

Md Helal, 25, and Kabir Hossain, 19, hailed from the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred around 8:30am when a microbus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with each other at Banglabazar, leaving Helal dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where Kabir succumbed to his injuries. 

In Magura, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a woman named Rupbhan Begum, 55, while she was crossing a road near Magura Government Girls' High School, leaving her critically injured.

Rupbhan, a resident of Stadiumpara in Magura town, was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.

Police seized the vehicle and detained its driver.

Meanwhile, the death toll in a road accident took place in Mymensingh on Saturday rose to five.

The accident occurred as a bus and a truck collided head-on on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway in the district's Gouripur upazila, leaving three persons dead and 14 others injured.

Of the 14 injured, Azizur Rahman, 40, and Rokel Ahmed, 30, died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital yesterday.
