Road crashes kill six

Six people were killed and 12 others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday and on Sunday.

In the capital, Emdadul Islam Bachchu, 48, was killed when a bus hit him in front of Gabtoli underpass while he was crossing the road yesterday. Police arrested the driver.

In the capital's Motijheel, Morsheda Kabir, 52, was run over by a bus while she was crossing the road at Shapla Chhatar yesterday.

Meanwhile in Gulistan, Alauddin Khan, 65, was killed when another bus ran him over at Zero Point yesterday. Police arrested the driver and seized the bus.

In Chittagong, a staff of fire service was run over by a bus while crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sitakunda Bazar area of Sitakunda upazila yesterday.

The deceased Maharram Ali, 29, of Comilla was a cook in the fire service, said  Inspector Fakhruddin of Sitakunda Fire Station.

Meanwhile BSS reports, Razan Miah, 16, of Telutta village was killed when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with his motorcycle in Baddorbazar area of Habiganj Sadar on Sunday night.

In Madaripur, Sajjad Hossain, 9, of the upazila was killed and 12 other were injured as a bus hit a locally-made vehicle as the driver lost control over the vehicle in Surjanagar area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway under Shibchar upazila yesterday.
