Road crashes kill six

Six people were killed in road accidents in the country yesterday and Thursday.

UNB from Rajshahi reports, three motorcyclists were killed instantly as a bus crashed into their bike from behind in the city's Stadium area last night, said police.

The deceased were Alamgir Hossain Bachchu, 55, of Sujanagar in Sadar upazila, M Adu, 52, and Ershad, 55, of Hajrapukur area in the same upazila.

Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, Mir Muntasir Mahin, 17, son of Mymensingh Bureau Chief of The Daily Samakal and also former secretary of Mymensingh Press Club Mir Golam Mustafa, died after a Mymensingh-bound truck rammed into Mahin's motorbike on Mymensingh-Sherpur road at Charkalibari in Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

Mahin was a HSC first-year student of Alamgir Monsur Memorial College in Mymensingh town.

Our Benapole correspondent adds, Abdul Mannan, 14, son of Ahmmed Ali of Chitompur village, died after a Jessore-bound bus hit his motorbike from behind at Chandpur in Chougachha upazila of Jessore yesterday.

Agitated locals blocked Chougachha-Jhikargachha road for about two hours, vandalised the bus and beat up the bus driver who was later sent to Jhikargachha hospital by police. A case was lodged.

Our Bogra correspondent adds, Nayek of Armed Police Battalion in Bogra town, Sharful Alam, 30, died from head injuries that he suffered when the CNG-run auto-rickshaw he was in hit a road divider and he fell down on Bogra-Dhaka highway at Kanochgari in Bogra town early yesterday.

He was returning home in the town when the accident occurred.
