Road crashes kill nine

Nine people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday.

In Narayanganj, four people were killed as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was hit by an unknown vehicle in Sonargaon upazila.

Two of the deceased were driver of the auto-rickshaw Shagor, 25, and its passenger Mantu Mia, 40, of Rupganj of the district. The identity of the other deceased could not be known.

Meanwhile, Mominul Haque of Chuadanga died as a truck ran him over in Kanchpur Bridge area of Sonargaon upazila.

In another accident in the district, an unidentified pedestrian was killed when a bus hit him in Sanarpar area of Siddhirganj upazila.

Police seized the bus and arrested its driver.

In Chittagong, Anjuman Akter, 35, of Patiya upazila was killed and a man injured when a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Chandgaon Kaptai Rastar Matha area of Chittagong city.

In Dinajpur, Ashraf Ali, 55, of satellite town area was killed and his son injured when a truck hit his motorcycle on the Dinajpur-Bogra highway in Kawgaon area.

In Comilla, Amir Hossain, 50, of Durgapur village was killed when a bus hit him while he was crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sujatpur area of Chauddagram upazila.
