Road crashes kill eight, injure eight
Eight people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in six districts yesterday and on Friday.
In Jamalpur, Shefali Aktar, 32, of Roknai village was killed and her husband injured when a pick-up van hit their motorcycle in Gabtoli area of Dewanganj upazila yesterday.
In Jamalpur Sadar, Momtaj Uddin, 30, of Durmuth village was killed when his CNG-run-auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a four-wheeler in Jhinai Bridge area on Friday night.
In Narayanganj, a man and his son were killed and another was injured when a bus ploughed through a roadside food shop as the driver lost his control over the vehicle on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Mograpara intersection area of Sonargaon upazila on Friday.
The deceased were Nazrul Islam, 45, of Choto Sadipur area and Hasib, 8.
In Jhenidah, Umme Taiba Akhi, 10, of Gabla village was killed and three people were injured when a microbus hit them while they were standing at Kulchara Bus Stand near Jhenidah-Kushtia road in Shailkupa upazila yesterday.
In Dinajpur, Moloy Devnath, 13, of Tatipara village was killed when a tractor hit him at Gobindapur village of Khansama upazila yesterday.
In Thakurgaon, Abdul Baten, 65, a retired BGB personnel and an inhabitant of Masterpara was killed when a bus rammed his motorcycle on Baliadangi-Ranishankoil road in Mirdangi village of Ranishankoil upazila on Friday evening.
In Pabna, Faruk Hossain, 30, was killed and another was injured when his motorcycle hit a bicycle in Ashutoshpur area yesterday.
