Road crashes kill 10
Ten people were killed and 13 others injured in road accidents in seven districts yesterday and on Saturday.
In Bogra, a school teacher was killed and another teacher injured when a goods-laden truck knocked down their motorcycle on Gabtoli-Bogra road at Shandhabari in the district's Gabtoli upazila yesterday.
The deceased was Khorshed Alam, 52, an assistant teacher of the upazila's Chakma Government Primary School.
Injured teacher Abdul Latif Mithu, 45, of Khidropori Government Primary School in the same area was admitted to a local hospital.
In Rajshahi, a Dhaka-bound bus hit an auto-rickshaw in Bhadra area under Boalia Police Station, leaving Emdadul Haque Sarker, 65, former deputy general manager of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, critically injured, reports BSS.
He later died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
In Gazipur, three persons, including a baby, were killed and 12 others injured as a speeding truck abruptly struck a roadside shop near Dhirasrom rail crossing on Chittagong-Gazipur highway yesterday.
The deceased were shopkeeper Hassan Ali, 70, his eight-month-old grandson Zubair and Moslem Uddin, 65.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
In Dhaka, a human hauler hit street vendor Shanu, 30, near Babu Bazar Bridge in old Dhaka yesterday, leaving him injured.
He later died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
In Habiganj, a vehicle hit a boy named Tamim Hasan when he was crossing a road in Kamalkhani area in Baniachong upazila yesterday, leaving him injured, reports BSS.
Tamim later died at a hospital.
In Natore, Sabina Begum, 52, a resident of Sadar upazila, also a worker of Pran Medical, was killed when a Barisal-bound BRTC bus hit her on Natore-Rajshahi highway in Dakmara area on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in another incident on the same day, a boy named Arafat Hossain was killed as a truck ran him over on Dattapara-Dhorail road in the upazila's Lalmonipur area.
In Dinajpur, a speeding truck hit a rickshaw-van puller in Parbatipur upazila on Saturday night, leaving him dead on the spot.
The deceased was Minhazul Islam, 35, son of Yasin Ali of the upazila.
