RO warns four for polls code violation

The returning officer (RO) of the Chittagong City Corporation polls yesterday cautioned four councillor candidates, including two women for reserved seats, against further violation of the electoral code of conduct.

Earlier, the candidates Md Ershad Mamun, Md Jahurul Alam Jashim, Farhana Javed (reserved seat) of Ward 9, and Jesmin Parvin Jesi (reserved seat) of Ward 3 were served show cause notices for breaking the electoral code, said Assistant RO Md Shafiqur Rahman.

They replied to the show cause notices yesterday, and the RO asked them not to do this again as in that case they will face legal action, he told The Daily Star.
