By-polls to Magura-1 constituency on May 30

The by-polls to Magura-1 constituency will be held on May 30, Election Commission (EC) announced yesterday.

The last date for filing nomination is April 30, scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on May 4 and the last date of withdrawal of candidacy is May 12.

EC Secretary Sirazul Islam announced the schedule at the EC's media centre.

The constituency fell vacant following the death of Awami League lawmaker MS Akbar on March 9.
