Police bar leftist students’ procession against rape

Star Online report

Police barred a procession against incidents of rape brought out by members of Bangladesh Chhatra Union in Dhaka this afternoon.

The rally began around 11:45am from Shahbagh.

The protesters then started marching towards the Prime Minister's office with black flags from Shahbagh via TSC around 1:15pm, reports our staff correspondent.

Police barred the procession when it reached the intersection in front of Hotel Intercontinental on Minto Road. They created barricades with barbed fencing to block the passage of the protesters.

Failing to advance further, the protesters were chanting slogans seeking justice for rape victims at the intersection at the time of filing this report.
