Now Savar BCL leader accuses SI of death threat
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)'s Savar upazila unit blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway in Thana Stand area of Savar yesterday for an hour demanding withdrawal of a sub-inspector of the Detective Branch of police.
According to BCL Savar unit's president Atikur Rahman Atik, Zillur Rahman, sub-inspector of DB Dhaka district (north), over the phone threatened to kill him as he requested him to release three brick field employees, who were arrested on Monday over "false" drug peddling charges.
The three were arrested at Bangla Khola Brick field at Genda with 150gm of marijuana and were sentenced to a six-month imprisonment each by a mobile court yesterday, said police.
Denying the death threat, Zillur said Atik over the phone offered him a bribe for releasing the three, which he refused. Atik lodged a written complaint with the police.
