Nilphamari train derailment halts communications for six hours

Rail communications on Parbotipur-Chilahati route in Nilphamari remained snapped for six hours as the locomotive of a Rajshahi-bound intercity train "Barendra Express" derailed near Cheta Shah rail crossing yesterday around 7:00am.

Railway police said the locomotive derailed after bumping into a tree fallen on the rail tracks due to storm of Thursday.

No casualty was reported. Rescue team managed to remove the train from the track around 11:30am and the communications resumed around 1:00pm, said railway police.
