Mohiuddin Chy gets bail in graft case

A Chittagong court yesterday granted bail to former Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and 15 others in a graft case.

According to the first information report (FIR), Mohiuddin during his second term as CCC mayor in 1997 allocated 23 shops of CCC in the port city's Muradpur violating rules and abusing power.

On October 13, 2002, the then Anti-Corruption Bureau filed the case. The court fixed September 22 for the next hearing.

Following another petition, the court appointed Mohiuddin's lawyer Advocate Rony Kumar Dey as Mohiuddin's representative so that Rony can appear in next hearings on behalf of his client.
