A mobile court fined Dr Sirajul Islam Medical College Hospital Tk 30 lakh on charge of using single petri dish for three patients, expired reagents for laboratory tests and other anomalies.
A joint task force led by Rab executive magistrate Sarwoer Alam conducted the five-hour drive in the 500-bed hospital this afternoon. Representatives from health ministry and members of Rab-3 participated in the drive.
After the drive, Sarwoer told the media that a single petri dish was being used for three patients which may yield incorrect outcomes or test reports. Besides, they found that the hospital was using expired reagents in medial tests and intensive care unit.
The mobile court also found that some surgical items have already expired.
With Tk 30 lakh fine, the hospital authorities were given a timeframe to take measures to rectify the anomalies.
Joint Secretary Umme Salma Tanzia of health ministry was present during the drive.
