Man held with pistol in Mymensingh

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a man with a firearm from Mymensingh city’s Badekolpa area this evening.

Rab also seized a foreign pistol with two bullets and a magazine from his possession, our Mymensingh correspondent reports.

Arrestee Md Ujjol Mahmud, 30, is son of Md Abdur Razzaq of Badekolpa area.

Acting on a tip-off, a Rab-14 team led by its Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Md Hafizul Islam Babu raided the area, searched Ujjol and found a pistol with bullets and a magazine.

During primary interrogation, Ujjol confessed that he used the firearm to give threats to people in grabbing land in favour of influential quarters, said the Rab official.

He was handed over to Kotwali Police Station later and a case was filed with the police station under Arms Act, added the official.
