Man dies from suffocation in Ctg fire

A man died from suffocation and three of her family members fell sick during a fire that swept through their flat in Sugandha Residential area of Chittagong city on Monday night.

The deceased was Abu Taher Chowdhury, 78. Critically sick Jahanara Naznin, 35, Md Faruk, 45 and Mohiuddin, 8, were admitted to Chittagong Medcial College Hospital.

Fire Service officials said the fire started at the flat on the second floor of a six-story building around 10:25pm and fire-fighters doused it around 11:50pm. Valuables worth Tk 2 lakh were damaged in the fire.
