Man dies after falling sick in jail

A man died in Gaibandha Sadar Hospital after falling sick in the district jail yesterday morning.
Jail sources said Shaharul Islam, 22, son of Abdur Razzak of Gobindagnaj upazila, was arrested with four others in a hostel at Bujruk Boalia on February 8 on suspicion of being an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist and for involvement in subversive activities during hartals and blockades. Shaharul suddenly fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital where he died during treatment, said Dr Nirmolendu Chowdhury, civil surgeon of Gaibandha, suspecting that Shaharul had a heart attack.
