Man crushed to death by locomotive after train derails

A man died after the locomotive of a train fell on him beside the railway tracks as it derailed near Narsingdi station last night.

At least 100 passengers were injured while they were getting down hurriedly. The deceased, Babul, was a rickshaw-puller in Hasnabad area of Raipura upazila.

Witnesses said the Akhaura-bound train was passing through the track following a "wrong signal" and the driver tried in vain to stop it. The derailment snapped Sylhet-Chittagong rail communication for around two hours.
