Khulshi OC transferred following RO's plea
Khulshi Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC), Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, was transferred to Chittagong Metropolitan Police's (CMP) Detective Branch yesterday as per the Chittagong City Corporation poll's returning officer's (RO) plea over non-compliance with an order.
Sukanta Chakraborty, inspector (investigation), will take over, said CMP Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mandal, adding that they would investigate the allegation.
RO Md Abdul Baten on Wednesday sought the transfer within 24 hours, recommending keeping him away from election related duties and seeking in his place an honest, competent and neutral officer.
The RO said the OC did not respond to a letter of his seeking steps in two days and a compliance report over an April 16 attack on female campaigners of a ward 14 councillor candidate.
Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Mohammad Mahfuzul Alam's campaigners, including his wife, were attacked at Wireless area allegedly by supporters of an Awami League-supported contender, Mohammad Hossain Hiron, who did not take calls for comments afterwards.
