Due to her illness, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not attend today's trial proceedings before the court of Special Judge's Court-3 of Dhaka in Zia Charitable Trust graft case, her lawyer Sanaullah Miah told The Daily Star.

With this, Khaleda will skip the trial proceedings in the case for 18 consecutive dates. Counsels for two other accused will cross-examine the last witness.

According to the charge-sheet of the case, Khaleda and three others abused power to collect Tk 6.19 crore for the trust during the BNP-led government's tenure between 1991 and 1996.
