The 11th Jatiya Sangsad will go into its budget session on June 10.

President Abdul Hamid convened the budget session today exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of article 72 of the constitution, said a press release of Jatiya Sangsad secretariat.

The national budget for 2020-21 fiscal will be placed in the House on June 11, a press note of the finance ministry said earlier.

This will be the eighth session of the 11th parliament and second budget of the Awami League government formed through the December 30 national election in 2018.

The last session of parliament was prorogued around an hour after the House went into sitting on April 18 due to Covid-19 pandemic. This is the shortest session of parliament in the recent history of Bangladesh, sources at the parliament secretariat said.

Most of the senior and front row MPs were absent in the seventh session on advice from the parliament secretariat to avoid risk of Covid-19.
