Illegal saris, drugs seized at airport

Customs officials yesterday seized a huge amount of illegally imported saris and medicines worth Tk 2 crore at the capital's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The medicines were found in two luggage of a passenger, M Faisal Haq, 29, of Madaripur, who was arrested, Shahiduzzaman Sarker, assistant commissioner (customs), told The Daily Star.

Faisal reached the airport from Bangkok by a flight of Regent Airways, he said.

Earlier, the Indian saris, brought by another flight of the Airways, were seized in customs lounge area, he added.
