HC also denies Falu permission to travel to KSA

The High Court yesterday rejected a writ petition filed by BNP leader Mosaddak Ali Falu seeking its directive on the government not to prevent him from going to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah.

The court passed the order considering that the petition was not properly placed before it.

The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal came up with the decision after hearing arguments from the counsels for the state and the petitioner.

Additional Attorney General Murad Reza told the court that Falu was not on bail now in a vandalism and arson case filed with Badda Police Station after the police on June 27 submitted charge sheet in this case to the lower court concerned.

The HC had granted bail to Falu on June 18 till submission of the police report in this case, he said, adding that the term of his bail has already expired following submission of the charge sheet by police.

Murad Reza argued that Falu is now a fugitive from justice and therefore, he has no right to move such a writ petition seeking permission to go abroad.

Ruhul Quddus Kazal, counsel for Falu who is an adviser to BNP chief Khaleda Zia, told the court that his client had no information about submission of the charge sheet.
