Gas cylinder blast kills one, injures seven in Madaripur

A man died and seven others were injured when a gas cylinder used for inflating balloons exploded a village fair in Gopalpur area of Kalkini upazila in Madaripur early yesterday.

The dead was Siraj Sardar, 53, of Goila village in Agoiljhara upazila.

The injured were identified as Sumon Sardar, 22, Ridoy Sardar, 17, sons of dead Siraj Sardar, Jewel, 22, of Bakal under Gournadi upazila in Barisal, Aslam Khan, 31, of   Baligram under kalkini upazila and Sahadat, 26, of Panichhatra of the district's municipal area.

The body of Siraj Sardar was sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
