Freedom fighters attacked allegedly by followers of Chattogram MP
Followers of Chattogram Lawmaker Mostafizur Rahman allegedly attacked a section of freedom fighters while they were forming a human chain in the port city today.
Around 15 participants of the programme organised by Chattogram MuktiJoddha Command received minor injuries during the attack, said the Command's Finance Secretary of Chattogram district (south) Abdur Razzak.
Razzak alleged that the attack was planned and carried out by the followers of Tazul Islam, assistant personal secretary (APS) of MP Mostafizur Rahman.
The freedom fighters formed the human chain at Chattogram Press Club around 11:30am demanding action against Mostafizur, lawmaker from Chattogram-16 constituency, for his derogatory comment about a renowned freedom fighter, our staff correspondent reports.
The demonstrators also sought attention of the authorities to take action against MP Mostafizur, who dishonoured a freedom fighter over a rivalry depriving him of state honour.
The lawmaker's APS Tazul did not receive our correspondent's calls as The Daily Star tried to get his comment after the attack took place.
