Four die in road crashes
Four people were killed and 14 others injured in road accidents in Mymensingh and Dinajpur yesterday.
In Mymensingh, three persons, including two women, were killed and 14 others injured as a bus and a truck collided head-on on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway in the district's Gouripur upazila.
Two of the deceased were Fatema Begum, 22, and Shariful Islam, 35. The identity of another woman, aged about 50, could not be ascertained immediately.
Akhtar Morshed, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station, said the accident occurred around 1:15pm when a Kishoreganj-bound bus collided head-on with a truck in the upazila's Gangashram area, leaving Fatema dead on the spot and 16 others injured.
The injured persons were rushed to local hospitals where Shariful and the woman unidentified succumbed to their injuries.
In Dinajpur, a speeding truck knocked a man down on Dinajpur-Parbatipur road in Sheikhpura area of Dinajpur Sadar upazila yesterday noon, leaving him dead on the spot.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
