Five high-yielding rice varieties released

National Seed Board yesterday released five new high-yielding rice varieties in the country.

The varieties are BRRI Dhan-70, BRRI Dhan-71, BRRI Dhan-72, and BRRI Dhan-73, all developed by Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and Bina Dhan-17, developed by Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (Bina).

Meeting sources said some of these new rice varieties are able to withstand drought and salinity while others have better aroma traits.
