Eleven killed in road crashes

Eleven people were killed and 35 others injured in road accidents in six districts yesterday and Tuesday.

In Munshiganj, three people were killed and 10 others injured when a bus fell into roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the vehicle in Chaltipara area of Sirajdikhan upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Md Bachchhu, 30, of Mujibpur Doyahati, Md Nayeem, 10, and Shila Akther, 30, of Chaltipara village.

Following the incident vehicular movement came to a halt for around two hours.

In Jessore, Ashiqur Rahman, 43, of Keshabpur upazila was killed when a truck crashed into a power tiller on Jessore-Keshabpur road in Kuadar Sat Mile area of the upazila on Tuesday night.

In Chittagong, two people were killed and 10 others injured when a pickup van collided head-on with a bus on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in Naya Khal area of Satknaia upazila yesterday.

The deceased were van driver Anwar Hossain, 28, and helper Monwar Hossain, 26, of Mirsarai upazila.

In Pabna, two people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a human-hauler at Aladipur on Pabna-Nagarbari Highway in Sujanagar upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased were Akbar Hossain, 55, and Abdur Rahim, 60, of Durgapur Ghoshpara village.

In Keraniganj, Tara Miah, 40, of Mymensingh was killed when a bus hit him in Baghoir-Priyaprangon residential area on Dhaka-Mawa Highway yesterday.

In Rajshahi city, two people were killed when their motorcycle collided head-on with an ambulance in Boharampur area under Rajpara Police Station yesterday.

The deceased were Mamunur Rashid, 44, and Montu Hossain, 40.
