Eight killed, 26 injured in road accidents
Eight people were killed and 26 others injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday.
In Savar, two unidentified people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Aricha highway near Joypura Bus Stand in Dhamrai.
Meanwhile, Chan Miah, 32 a truck driver, was killed as the truck turned turtle when he lost control over the vehicle on the highway.
In Mymensingh, three people were killed and two others injured when a bus hit them as the driver lost control over the vehicle on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Nayanpur Bazar area of Sreepur upazila.
Two of the deceased were Abdur Rashid, 54, of Faridpur village, and Mosharof Hossen, 38 of Dakkhin Dhunua.
Protesting the death, locals blocked the highway halting the traffic movement for half an hour. They also caught the driver Mahbubur Rahman, 25, of Deoli village and handed him over to police.
In Jhenidah, Tushi Khatun, 25, of Kumiradah village was killed and two of her family members were injured when a truck hit a motorcycle at Kodalia village intersection.
Chittagong, Jamal Uddin, 65, of Naikhain was killed and two others were injured as a bus hit them after the driver lost control over the vehicle on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway in Goiralartek area of Patiya upazila.
