Death in ‘police custody’: PBI starts probe; Rayhan’s body to be exhumed
Body of Rayhan, who died after allegedly being tortured inside Bandarbazar Police Outpost on Sunday, will be exhumed.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner, M Kazi Emdadul Islam, also the district magistrate, ordered the exhumation today following an application of the case's former investigation officer Md Abdul Baten, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station.
Muhammad Khaled-uz-Zaman, special police superintendent of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Sylhet, confirmed the matter after PBI took responsibility of the case's probing today.
He said, "The district magistrate appointed in this regard and the body will be exhumed after consultation with the magistrate".

Earlier yesterday, following an order from the Police Headquarters, the investigation of the case filed in connection with the alleged custodial killing was handed over to PBI.
As part of the probing, a PBI investigation team cordoned the police outpost from 12pm today and started examining the crime scene.
