Customs seizes 70 noncompliant motorbikes in capital

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department seized 70 illegal motorbikes worth Tk 7 crore from Kamalapur Inland Container Depot in Dhaka yesterday.

Customs officials said the engine capacities of the motorbikes are more than 800cc which is beyond the legal limit.

On March16 last year, the customs authorities halted the unloading of a consignment of the motorbikes imported by Balaka Enterprise of Free School Street.

Following a High Court order on March 23 this year after a law battle, the customs authorities examined the motorbikes yesterday and made the seizure.
