Ctg girl dies in house fire

A girl was burnt to death as a fire broke out in her tin-shed house in Madyam Sonaichhari Shitalpur area of Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on Thursday night.

The fire originated from a mosquito coil when Sanjida Begum, 8, daughter of Badsha Mia, was sleeping alone inside the house as her parents went outside locking her inside.

The fire also spread to a nearby grocery shop and a tea-stall and caused a damage of Tk 80,000, said fire officials. Fire fighters doused the fire after an hour long effort.

Meanwhile in Rangpur city, a tin-shed one-storey cotton factory of Jahangir Hossain was gutted by a fire at Alamnagar beside Rangpur Railway Station early yesterday.

Jahangir claimed that he incurred a loss of Tk 5 lakh.

Fire fighters doused the blaze after three hour long effort. Fire officials could not ascertain the cause behind the fire immediately.
