The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Tuesday issued letters to 21 government agencies and five project authorities to coordinate their development works with DSCC by October 31 to implement the projects.

The letters signed by Chief Executive Officer of DSCC ABM Aman Ullah Nuri have already been sent to the organisations, says a press release.

The letter mentioned that DSCC is preparing an integrated city master plan for Dhaka to make the city a developed one as per the Vision 2041 of the prime minister.

After getting approval of the coordinated master plan of Dhaka, any development works there will have to be implemented taking the opinion of the city corporation and coordinating those with their development plans.

As different service providing organisations have undertaken different development projects and implemented those without coordinating with DSCC, Dhaka is becoming an unplanned city.

Authorities concerned are giving approval to construction of residential buildings by filling up waterbodies, risking disaster.

Waterlogging is also increasing as canals are being filled up and uncertainty is growing over drinking water and proper sewerage management, says the press release.

Uncoordinated road development works are also creating obstacles to smooth vehicular movement, the release said.

Dhaka city will be a planned city if every government agency does their development work taking the opinion of the city corporation, read the letter.

DSCC asked all the organisations to submit their details of implement-worthy plans under the current fiscal by October 31.
