College student fatally run over by bus in capital
Three persons, including two students, were killed in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
In Dhaka, a college student named Mariam Akter, 24, died instantly as a Shohag Paribahan bus abruptly hit her on the Airport road in the capital's Khilket area.
Mariam, wife of Salauddin, was a second year student of social science at Tongi Govt College. The bus ran her over near the hotel Le Meridian in Khilkhet area around 8:00am while she was waiting for vehicle to go to college and talking to her husband over phone, leaving her dead on the spot; said Abdur Razzak, sub-inspector of Khilkhet Police Station. Locals caught the bus driver and handed him over to police.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Jamalpur, a sand-laden truck hit a schoolboy when he was going to school in Muktijoddha Office Gate area in Sarishabari upazila, leaving him dead on the spot.
Deceased Siam,12, was son of Harun of Khakuria village, and a seventh grader of RDM Pilot High School in the upazila. Police detained the truck, but its driver managed to flee.
In Mymensingh, a woman died as a Kishoreganj-bound bus hit her on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway in Laxmiganj Bazar area in Ishwarganj upazila.
The deceased was Mamota Rani Das, 50, wife of Akhil Chandra Das of Laxmiganj village.
Police recovered the body. A case was lodged in this regard.
