War Crime Trial against Habiganj 'Razakars'

Closing arguments begin May 10

The case against three alleged Habiganj Razakars is set to enter the final stage as International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday fixed May 10 to start hearing the closing arguments.

Hearing the closing arguments, the tribunal will either keep the verdict waiting or fix a date to deliver it.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Anwarul Haque with members Justice Md Shahinur Islam and Justice Md Shohrowardi fixed the date on completing recording the last defence witness' testimony and cross-examination.

Earlier in the day, Dewan Oliur Rahman of Khussa Khagaura village, also the seventh defence witness, testified that the accused were not involved with Razakar Bahini.

Muhibur Rahman Boromia, his brother Mujibur Rahman Angur Mia and Abdur Razzak of Baniachang upazila pleaded not guilty to the four charges. A total of 12 prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer, have testified.
