Cable TV viewers forum wants representation in broadcast commission
Bangladesh Cable TV Viewers Forum yesterday placed a set of demands, including inclusion of its actual representative in the committee constituted to form an independent broadcast commission.
The forum came up with the demands at a press conference in Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Addressing the press conference, the forum President Arfanul Hoque Nahid claimed that the person included in the committee as the representative of the forum is not a member of the platform at all. Reading out a written statement, the forum leader also demanded resumption of "transmission" of ETV, release of detained satellite television owners, revision of the monthly subscription charge for cable televisions, a stop to transmission of illegal channels and airing gruesome scenes and indecent advertisements by the televisions, and imposing a restriction on airing ads during TV news.
The forum General Secretary Ahmed Siraj and its Joint Secretary Shabuddin Shihab were also present on the occasion.
