BCC chief engineer gets show cause notice

Barisal City Corporation Chief Engineer Nurul Islam received a show cause notice from the LGRD ministry on Tuesday for giving an explanation of workers' appointment.

Soroj Kumar Debnath, deputy secretary of the ministry issued the notice asking Nurul Islam to explain within seven working days why he appointed 58 master roll workers as permanent ones, Ranajit Kumar, CEO of BCC, told The Daily Star yesterday.

Nurul Islam acknowledged the fact but declined to comment on the issue.
